$5 1899 Silver Certificate FR#273 PMG-40 S/N D61289999

One of the most popular and highly desirable type notes you can get.  This is a beautiful mid-grade note which has the look of a much higher grade.  The folds which make this an XF grade are VERY light and the Chief design is left perfect and without flaws.  Edges and corners are sharp and some original embossing still remains.  So popular is the note, that it is #10 on the top 100 list. This is the only note to feature a Native American on the note.  Running Antelope (a member of the Hunkpapha tribe of the Sioux Indians) was chosen as the central image.  Ironically, His headdress was too large for the note, so a headdress of a rival Pawnee tribe was used to accommodate the size of the note.  This is also an early and scarce FR# of the series and is about three times as scarce as the most common FR#281
